- Abstract
We report a case if primary isolated megalourethra because of its rare presentaion. A 6 year male child presented to our department with complains of ballooning of penis on ventral aspect, dribbling of urine, straining to void and passing urine by squeezing the penis. Symptoms were present since birth. He had no history of haematuria, fever, weight loss or anorexia. Past medical history including anti-natal, natal and post natal were unremarkable. On physical examination patient was average built, well oriented with time, things, place and persons. There was no relevant abnormality found on physical examination. External genitalia, there was flabby swelling of penile urethra on ventral aspect. Testes were palpable in scrotal sac. Digital rectal examination was normal. Investigations shows normal complete blood count and renal function test. U/S of KUB region and IVU were normal. MCU revealed markedly dilated anterior urethra. Urethrocystoscopy revealed dilated anterior urethra with normal posterior urethra and bladder. Megalourethra was corrected by reduction urethroplasty. Patient was voiding well without post void dribbling at the end of 3 months of follow up.
