- Abstract
The article discusses the impact that global sea level rise has on the legal aspects of national territorial maritime boundaries due to the shifting of coasts of states, referencing the diplomat Hugo Grotius's perspective on maritime law, international peace and sovereignty. An overview of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea's (UNCLOS') role in defining maritime territory is provided.
