- Abstract
The article focuses on the role of general practitioners (GP) in the identification of and intervention for parents with a mental illness which is reported to be of significant prevalence rate. It notes that Australian patients with mental illness approach their GP for professional support, thus allowing GP's the opportunity to mitigate the effects of mental illness on families. Discussed are possible approaches for GP's when providing support for parents with a mental illness.
