- Authors
Herron, Thomas
- Abstract
The article presents a literary criticism of the 16th century political allegories of Edmund Spencer and Barnabe Riche. The particular themes of militant religious-political reform toward the governance of Ireland expressed in Spencer's "Mother Hubberds Tale" from the larger collection "Complaints" are analyzed. Similar tropes within the works of Riche are also examined towards the depiction of Adam Loftus, Archbishop of Dublin, Ireland.
