- Abstract
This article, titled "Assessment of Cerebral White Matter Involvement in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Patients With Disease Progression and Cognitive Impairment by Fixel-Based Analysis and Neurite Orientation Dispersion and Density Imaging," compares the results of a group of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients with a control group. The study used a technique called Tract-Based Spatial Statistics (TBSS) to analyze differences in neurite density, orientation dispersion, isotropic volume fraction, and fractional anisotropy between the two groups. The findings showed variations in these metrics, with regions of decreased neurite density, isotropic volume fraction, and fractional anisotropy in ALS patients, as well as an increased orientation dispersion index. The authors of the study are Xu, Wang, Zhu, Jiang, Wan, Ma, Yu, Yu, Fang, Hu, and Zhu.
