- Title
Good sports: Working with professional athletes and the media in Los Angeles.
- Authors
Burke, Marilyn
- Abstract
This article reports that getting professional athletes to talk to the media about something other than game-day highlights can be a difficult task. When faced with questions about poor performances or, perhaps, problematic off-field incidents, athletes will often resort to cliches. Worse, they will ignore the media, hurting the team's image in the process. It's a challenge that sports information directors face daily. Getting players to talk about tough topics was just one of the issues discussed by nine public relations practitioners who work for professional sports teams in Los Angeles, California.
