- Abstract
Porous sunshade roof cover sheet is a new structure used for heat insulation on building roofs. This paper describes a wind tunnel study that investigated the effects of various parapets on wind loading on porous sunshade roof cover sheets for a low-rise building. The test model (200 mm high (H), 470 mm wide (B), 710 mm deep (D)) at a length scale of 1:50 had sixteen porous sunshade roof cover sheets on the roof, four of which were equipped with pressure taps. Wind pressures were measured simultaneously at many pressure taps on both the upper and lower surfaces of the porous sunshade roof cover sheets. Perimeter parapets (solid parapet, porous parapet and wind spoiler) of different heights were used to investigate their effects on wind loading on porous sunshade roof cover sheets through results of wind pressure coefficients, wind force coefficients, cross-correlation coefficients between upper and lower surface pressures, and probability density functions.
