- Title
Power and Corruption.
- Authors
McCarthy, Daniel
- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between power and corruption, challenging the notion that power corrupts and instead arguing that power often provides the opportunity for corruption that already exists within individuals. The author highlights the importance of cultivating moral character and providing aristocratic education to rulers in order to prevent corruption. They argue that relying solely on laws to restrain power without moral education can ultimately lead to a loss of liberty. The article emphasizes the need for a classical education as a remedy for the vices of the ruling class and as a means to address the underlying issue of corruption.
