- Abstract
The article reports on the investigation by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on a cholera outbreak which hit Juba, southern Sudan in 2007. Some of the factors contributing to the outbreak include poverty, inadequate sanitation and large number of war refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). It provides an overview of the quality of drinking water consumed by people in Juba. It has revealed the importance of sharing the knowledge of proper food handling and the importance of heating food before eating to prevent cholera.
