- Abstract
Fibromyalgia is a chronic rheumatic disease whose main characteristic is a persistent deep aching over most of the body. Although the number of people diagnosed with this condition is increasing, there is currently still no single gold standard treatment due to its possible multi-causal etiology. However, given the large psychological component present in the disease, the aim of this review is to make known the main psychological interventions that have been used so far to treat the emotional symptoms of these patients. In this way, it is intended to show that there are alternative options to psychotropic drugs, which have been demonstrated to have questionable clinical efficacy, due to all the harmful side effects for those who opt for their use.
