- Title
Rectifying Pharaoh: Ibn 'Arabī, Dhū'l-Nūn and the Alchemy of Red Sulphur.
- Authors
Roberts, Alison M.
- Abstract
The article discusses Ibn 'Arabī's redemption of Pharaoh-futuwwa, a way of spiritual chivalry, which is spread throughout Iran, Iraq, Anatolia, Syria and Egypt during the 10 to 13 centuries. Topics include teaching the infidel about chivalric forgiveness of enemies and alchemical rebirth in Rūmī's Mathnawī; and Moses– Pharaoh encounters all the hallmarks of a fatā's inner struggle, in which Christ-like forgiveness of enemies is the highest virtue.12.
