- Title
MAJOR LIFE EVENTS AND DAILY HASSLES IN PREDICTING HEALTH STATUS: METHODOLOGICAL INQUIRY.
- Authors
Flannery, Jr., Raymond B.
- Abstract
The article examines major life events and daily hassles in predicting health status. While there is agreement that stressful life change events may impair health, the nature and measurement of these adverse situations are less clear. One approach has been to assess the impact of major life events with the Schedule of Recent Experience (SRE). This 43-item self-report measure contains a sample of common major life events. Each item has its assigned cultural weight, and one's total life stress score is the sum of these weighted events for the preceding 12 months.
