- Abstract
This article cites a study in Maryland that detailed a Cognitive Deficit (CD) subscale using a different instrument, such as the SCL-90-R, and addressed general issues of this approach with neuropsychologically impaired patients. Researchers evaluated an eight-item CD subscale of the SCL-90-R using both empirical and a priori criteria at two neuropsychology laboratories. After adjusting for symptom response rates, significant correlations were observed between the subscale and both the Impairment Index and Category Test of the Halstead-Reitan Battery. The issue of organicity subscales and the use of self-reporting with cognitively impaired patients were addressed.
