- Abstract
This article investigates the relationship between real-ideal self-concept discrepancy and depression among different generations and age groups of Japanese-American women in Hawaii. It was speculated that all subject groups would manifest relationships between the two variables similar to those reported with Caucasian groups. The Zung Self Rating Depression Scale and a self-concept semantic differential task were the two instruments used in this study. Mean scores and standard deviations for self-concept discrepancy task and the depression symptomatology task were calculated.
