The article discusses women's history and social conditions through their testimonies given at litigations heard in early modern English church courts. Topics include women's opinions on social aspects like marriage, family, neighbourliness and household when in a public, institutional venue like church courts, and the significant cultural and legal value of the words and memories of women concerning domestic space and sexual behaviour during their depositions.
