- Abstract
This article discusses findings of two studies on the relationship between drug use and wages. In light of the differences in method between the studies, the commonalities in the findings are heartening. A major concern was to estimate the relative contributions of human capital, personal characteristics and self-selection to nonuser-user wage differentials. Comparing user and nonuser wage equations, it was found that nonusers had higher returns to human capital characteristics, but that overall wage differentials, net of selection bias, favored users.
