- Authors
Cohen, Julius; Cohen, Lillian; Witney, Fred; Brown, Emily C.
- Abstract
The article focuses on union-shop and strike-vote elections in the U.S. The Labor-Management Relations Act of 1947 and by the provisions of several state labor laws require union-shop and strike-vote elections. An analysis of the results of these elections may be important in shaping the appropriate government approach to labor-management relations. Requirements for these elections are based on the assumption that a split of interest separates the union member from his organization and that the rank and file need legal protection from union leadership.
