- Abstract
This document is a letter published in the journal Neurological Sciences. It discusses a case study of a 30-year-old male patient with compound heterozygous mutations in the FBXO7 gene, which is a rare cause of early-onset Parkinson's disease. The patient presented with parkinsonism and prominent neuropsychiatric symptoms, but without pyramidal involvement. The study highlights the challenges in managing cases with severe neuropsychiatric symptoms and the potential side effects of levodopa treatment. The authors conclude that FBXO7 mutations can have a broad phenotypic presentation and that prominent psychiatric symptoms aggravated by levodopa treatment can be clinical clues to the diagnosis.
