- Abstract
In order to study the mechanical characteristics of the root foundation on the electric tower foundation, transparent soil and particle image velocimetry (PIV) technology were used to analyze the load-displacement (Q-s) curve of three kinds of root foundations under uplift and horizontal load, and the displacement vector change of transparent soil under ultimate load. Numerical simulation was applied to explore the influence of different root key lengths on the foundation bearing capacity. The results show that under the same working conditions, the vertical uplift bearing capacity of single-layer root foundation is higher than that of double-layer root foundation, but the horizontal bearing capacity of single-layer root foundation is lower than that of double-layer root foundation. The displacement vector diagram of double-layer root foundation with a vertical spacing of 0. 02 m shows that the area with large displacement conforms to the shear failure theory in the classical Mohr-Coulomb theory. The numerical simulation shows that the uplift bearing performance is better when the vertical spacing of double-layer root keys is 0. 83-1. 25 times the foundation diameter and the root key length is 0. 6 m.
