- Abstract
This article discusses the effects of a bradykinin antagonist, NPC567 on human skin. Bradykinin (BK) is known to be a mediator of oedema in the skin, and may also mediate pain and inflammation. NPC567 is a BK receptor blocker and if it antagonised the actions of BK in the skin it might be a useful anti-inflammatory agent. The ability of NPC567 to antagonise BK was assessed in 21 normal volunteers. Either NPC567or phosphate buffered saline was applied single-blind to 6 standardised 0.5cm. diameter abrasions.
