- Title
Sex determination by ultrasound: ethical challenges of sex ratio imbalances and invidious discrimination.
- Authors
Chervenak, F. A.; McCullough, L. B.
- Abstract
The authors reflect on ethical aspects of sex determination during an ultrasound examination. They note that the imbalance ratio between males and females have resulted to population growth policy in countries with strong preference for male offspring which draw concerns relating to sex discrimination. They say that decisions about sex identification should be kept confidential between the pregnant woman and the physician.
