- Abstract
Through the analysis of the film Ônibus 174 (Brazil, 2002) by José Padilha, we intend, in this paper, to enlighten the communicational phenomena in documentary film. In order to do so, it is essential to understand the relational model in Communications, widely developed by Louis Quéré. The ideas of Jean-Louis Comolli dialogue with the ones of Quéré in that they allow us to understand communicational relations in cinema: between the spectator and the film and between the one who films and the one who is filmed. A third movement associates this notion with the possibility of an analysis of the subjects' representation in documentary film in terms of back persona and front persona, fundamental concepts of Erving Goffman's sociology. Through this theoretical path we aim to reach the comprehension of the film's main character positioning.
