- Abstract
An important eleventh-century Syrian author, Elias, the bishop of Nisibis, had written down extensively on philosophy, theology, ethics, history and language. Clearly, Kitâb al-Majâlîs is his most important work in which he wrote his discussions with the Marwanid Vizier Abu al-Qasim al-Maghribî on several philosophical and theological issues such as God, incarnation, soul and will. This article is composed mainly of two parts. In the first one, E lias's importance and his works have been introduced to Turkish reader. Secondly, Elias's perception of God has been analyzed in the frame of Islamic philosophy and theology. Issues such as substance of God, Hypostasis Theory and Trinity have also been examined within this context.
