- Abstract
The authors discuss the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) consideration of whether to provide national coverage of lung cancer screening for high-risk individuals. Topics addressed include the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force's (USPSTF) recommendation regarding annual screening with low-dose computed tomography (CT), evaluations and recommendations by the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC), and the potential pros and cons of screening.
