- Abstract
The article focuses on a study involving three cases of biochemical misdiagnosis of pheochromocytoma in patients being treated with sulfasalazine. The women were admitted to the hospital with suspected pheochromocytoma or adrenal incidentaloma between 2006 to 2009. The urinary normetanephrine (UNM) levels of the patients were analyzed by mass spectrometry to assess for interference by sulfasalazine. Results showed that pure mesalamine and pure sulfasalazine did not interfere with normetanephrine.
