- Title
Regional Identity in Latvia: The Case of Latgale.
- Authors
Plakans, Andrejs
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the regional identity of Latgale, Latvia. It says that Latvians who were living in Livland and Courland, the two Russian Baltic provinces, around 1900 have developed cultural-political attitudes implying attitudinal integration. It tells that a Latvian collective identity trend was developed among the western Latvians. It adds that the emergence of social changes obscured both the boundaries and the linguistic particularism in Latgale.
