- Authors
Williams, Peter
- Abstract
The article presents remarks on the text of Domenico Scarlatti's sonatas. According to the author, Scarlatti and the keyboard music of his contemporaries G. F. Handel and J. S. Bach share a range of problems arising from transmission via copyists. The author cites a few questionable details in the copies of the sonatas which he believes originate in the carelessness of copyists in copying from the composer's original musical notation. An appendix listing remarks on the Scarlatti sonatas is presented.
