- Abstract
Ethanol extracts of Chenopodium ambrosioides L. contains many flavonoids, which have antioxidant and anti-tumor effects. In this study, the high yield of bioactive flavonoids from ethanol extract of C. ambrosioides, conditions of 3-factors [Microwave power (w), Ultrasonic power (w) and Extraction time (min)] involved in microwave and ultrasonic assisted extraction (MUAE), were optimized by single factor experiment and Box-Behnken experimental design of response surface methodology. The optimum conditions of these 3-factors were, microwave power: 300 w, ultrasonic power : 300 w and 20 min extraction time, extracted maximum flavonoids (10.17±0.13 µg/mL). The C. ambrosioides extract had high antioxidant activities against 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) (IC50=0.56 µg/mL) and 2,2'-Azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS) (IC50=12.375 µg/mL) radicals. In addition, the optimized extract inhibited the proliferation of human liver cancer cells SMMC-7721 in-vitro.
