- Abstract
The article focuses on the humanitarian assistance rendered by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in Haiti after an earthquake with the magnitude of 7.0 hit the country on January 12, 2010. The catastrophe, with the epicenter near the city of Port-au-Prince, resulted to a death toll reaching above 200,000 and destruction of 225,000 residential homes. The Operation Unified Response program was created in which the USCG troops delivered the immediate needs in the affected areas, including medical evacuations.
