- Abstract
The main purpose of the research was to study how problem based learning model affected students' achievement, attidute and motivation in Chemistry Lesson the unit of "Mixtures". In the study, semi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used. The sample of the research was 52 students who were the 10th grade students in 2009-2010 academic year spring semester. The students were divided into two groups as treatment and control groups according to random sampling method. The unit was taught with problem based learning in the treatment group, but in the control group traditional method was used in the same unit. The classes were implemented during 9 weeks in both groups. An Achievement Test, a Chemistry Attitude Scale, Motivation Scale and Student Interview Forms were used as data collection tools. At the end of the study, it was found out that there was significant difference between the treatment and control groups in view of achievement, attitude and motivation in Chemistry course in favour of the treatment group. In addition to this, students could have positive attitude towards Problem Based Learning and group study.
