- Title
On the Moral Equality of Combatants.
- Authors
McMahan, Jeff
- Abstract
The author discusses the just war theory by Michael Walzer, that emphasizes the doctrine of moral equality of combatants. This theory states that no distinction should be made between soldiers whose war is just, and those whose war is unjust, and that combatants act illegally when they violate the rules and regulations of a war. The author refutes this theory and reiterates that combatants are morally autonomous beings, and one should encourage the moral conviction of the combatants.
