- Abstract
This article discusses the increase in apocalyptic anxiety around the world today. People have experienced the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, global pandemics involving HIV/AIDS and virulent flu strains, ecological destruction, financial crises, and natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the earthquake in Haiti. The movie "2012" is highlighted as typical of the many apocalyptic motion pictures depicting the end of the world. The article also notes that children are being exposed to the apocalypse through motion pictures such as "Wall-E" and "9."
