An essay is presented on medieval rituals, West Frankish history, and author Geoffrey Koziol's book "The Politics of Memory and Identity in Carolingian Royal Diplomas: The West Frankish Kingdom 840-987." A historical overview of royal diplomas (charters) is provided, along with information on the reigns of the West Frankish Kings Charles the Bald, Louis III, and Charles the Fat. Instruments of power and Ottonian kings are mentioned, along with various monarchs such as Louis the Pious.
