- Abstract
As a social being, man is in constant interaction with his environment. Rural areas, small cities, big cities and metropolises are among the subjects of urban sociology as complex and multifaceted contexts that affect people’s relationships and communication styles. The concept of the city, which has a place in the literature with various problematics after the industrial period, constitutes one of the important study areas of both communication sociology and urban sociology. This study aims to conduct a theoretical analysis on the effects of urban life on human interactions, relationships and communication practices. In this context, urban life and its effects on human life will be discussed from the perspective of the thoughts of Georg Simmel, Ferdinand Tönnies and Anthony Giddens in particular. It is hoped that the study will inspire researchers to address the problematics in urban life from the perspective of the communication discipline.
