- Abstract
The article looks at the author's attempt on understanding the involvement of religious and secular members of the Catholic Church in building and founding charity hospitals in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais between the 17th and 20th centuries. Information concerning the interwoven connections between Catholic charities, religious members of the order of St. Vincent de Paul, catholic physicians and the christian principles of distributing charity and helping the poor through a social and professional network are provided.
