THE RISK IT TAKES TO BLOOM: THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND ITS LIMITS IN THE UNITED STATES AND FRANCE A COMPARATIVE EXAMINATION.
- Authors
Francois, Chriska
- Abstract
Can evolving national interests truncate a fundamental right such as Free Speech? To what extent can a democratic nation restrict the Free Speech right while remaining true to self-governance? This Comment examines the points of contention--at which the government draws lines on Free Speech in the United States and France, comparatively. This examination establishes (1) how two nations may fight for the same fundamental right, yet apply it completely differently; and (2) the ultimate risk it takes for successful free speech jurisprudence to bloom.
