- Abstract
The article reports on opportunities and challenges in the feminist movement in Chile in 2018. It refers to a period of "feminist silence," after the end of the civil-military dictatorship in Chile (1973-1990), in which progress was made in building the country's gender institutionality. The May 2018 movement began within universities mainly in response to the various types of gender violence faced by students on campus: sexual harassment by teachers, reinforcement of gender stereotypes when selecting which career to study, misogyny, discrimination within the classroom, use of sexist and non-inclusive language, among many others.
