- Abstract
The article explores the story of Janus, the Roman god of gates and doors, beginnings and endings, with reference to the novel "The Mango Season" by Amulya Malladi. The novel tells the story of a young Indian woman who must decide whether to follow her heart or tradition. The portrayal of Indian family relations in the novel is described. In addition, the article discusses the author's use of mangoes as a symbol of passion, heat, emotion and happiness in India.
