The article presents the research of Kripa Varanasi and colleagues that explores on the hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity of metal oxides and metals in the U.S. They found that the hydprobicity of the lanthanide oxide remained after exposed to more than 1,000 degrees centigrade temperature and abrasive wear. Moreover, they also discovered that rare-earth oxides (REOs) have robust hydrophobicity.
