- Authors
David, B.; Danbom, Karen R.
- Abstract
The article discusses the Fargo Nursery School in Fargo, North Dakota, which operated from 1933 to 1965. It comments on its inceptions under the Emergency Nursery School Program of the U.S. Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA). The authors note that the school provided food and play opportunities for children and parent education for adults. They also examine the nursery school's provision of child care to war workers during World War II and its transition to a mainly client-funded school in the postwar period. The role of Christine Finlayson, an Emergency Nursery Schools supervisor, is also explored.
