- Abstract
For this study natural thicker guar gum as printing thickener, reactive dyes, cotton grey fabric and cotton/ polyester blended fabric was selected. A bold and board floral design of sari border was selected for preparation of screen. A rubber squeegee was used of to move the dye paste across the screen for transfer of dye paste, various concentration of guargum was optimized. and printed samples were evaluated for uniformity of colour, sharpness of outlines, whiteness of ground, overall appearance, handling and colour fastness properties. It can be concluded from the study that guar gum is cheapest thickening agent and has high viscosity easily dissolve in water, it is not chemically react with fabric, dyes and nor with the auxillary present in the printing paste. It was clear from the result that at lower concentration of guar gum thickener was found to be good for transferring of dye particles from gum phase to fabric phase and miss printing was observed at higher concentration of guargum.
