- Abstract
The article reflects upon the work of the poet Gerard Manley Hopkins. Particular focus is given to three words that describe his work: kind, sweet and earnest, which aim to describe Hopkin's efforts to explore the interconnectedness of human experience, nature and the divine. Additional topics discussed include Hopkins' educational history and friendships and a look at Hopkins poems, including "Elected Silence," "Alchemist in the City" and "The Wreck."
