- Abstract
The essay examines the innovative role of the magazine "Once a Week" in publication of original visual art to accompany original poems. The change in the meaning of the poetry is explored in its pairing with visual art and in its placement among competing texts. Readings of poems "The Plague of Elliant. (From the Breton" and "Magenta" by Tom Taylor and "The Palimpsest" by Manley Hopkins. Artists explored in relation to the poems include John Everett Millais and Clara Lane.
