- Authors
Dalley, Lana L.
- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of the novel-poem "Aurora Leigh," by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. It explores the relationship between liberal economic theory and gender issues in the work, addressing theories of Victorian feminist literary critics who used the character of Aurora Leigh as the basis for arguments for increased financial autonomy and other progressive ideas. The author presents various criticisms for and against such views by Browning herself.
