- Title
RITUAL WISDOM AND RESTORATIVE JUSTICE.
- Authors
Everett, William Johnson
- Abstract
The author believes that there is a deep connection between symbolism and restorative justice. People often fail to see these connections because of simple distinction between "secular" and "sacred" that shape there discourse and vision. Symbols and rituals are indispensable in order to contain, transform and resolve conflicts. The concept of rituals focuses attention on important gatherings that have the character of drama. Ritual and symbols exercise their peculiar social power by legitimating action, ordering relationship, and enabling people to rehearse their participation in the resolution of conflict.
