The article discusses the court case R. v. Golding wherein the Crown Court at Northampton in England sentenced the appellant to fourteen months' imprisonment for recklessly infecting the complainant with genital herpes simplex type-2 (HSV-2). Topics discussed include the grounds of the subsequent appeal against conviction, Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) guidance in force at the time of the appellant's guilty plea, and expert medical evidence on the impact of herpes on the complainant.
