- Abstract
The article discusses the results of a prospective randomized double blind study on whether prophylactic antibiotic lowers surgical site infections after rhomboid excision and Limberg flap for pilonical disease. Topics covered include the continuing debate in the application of prophylactic antibiotics in pilonidal sinus surgery and the study results showing that single-dose prophylactic antibiotic application has no influence on surgical site infections and early recurrences.
