The author discusses the cyborg as a fiction mapping human political reality and a resource on possible fruitful couplings. Topics covered include Donna Haraway's view on the cyborg's dualism of human bodies and tools through regeneration, and the cyborg' extension of human bounds anticipated in the Caliban character in Shakespeare's play "The Tempest," and its adaptation in Alex Garland's science fiction Ex Machina." Also noted is the play's consideration as science fiction qua genre.
