- Title
Hints That Statins Reduce Colon Cancer Risk Finally Being Put to the Test.
- Authors
Hede, Karyn
- Abstract
The article focuses on a new clinical trial sponsored by the U.S. National Cancer Institute aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of statins, the most widely prescribed drugs for lowering cholesterol, to reduce colon cancer risk. It notes that different conclusions drawn from many epidemiological datasets published in the mid-2000s have stimulated the debate over the effect of these drugs on colon cancer risk. It also places emphasis on other studies which examine the molecular biology of statins.
