- Abstract
The article discusses a report that traces the relationship between comprehensive plan and zoning, subdivision and other land use actions from October 1, 2004 to September 30,2005. The report deals with the statutory requirement that zoning and other actions be in accordance with a comprehensive plan as required by the Standard Zoning Enabling Act or a similar statutory standard that deals with such relationship. The cases fall into three major categories including the unitary view, the planning factor cases and the planning mandate cases. Various plan amendments are discussed. A U.S. Supreme Court case entitled Kelo v. City of New London emphasized the importance of the city's plan to uphold land acquisition from the plaintiffs to carry out that particular plan.
